Church Construction Book / Church Building Guide This book may be the best investment you make in your entire church building program. This book is a trivial investment that can save you time, effort, stress, and precious dollars in church construction effort.   A church building can be important, but whether a church uses a building, a tent, or a grand stadium, it should teach biblical doctrine, proclaim the gospel of salvation, and glorify Christ. Recommended Resource: The Master’s Plan for the Church by John Macarthur. This book is not about the nuts and bolts of building a church building, but it is a "big-picture" view of what your church building should be all about, how it should enhance ministry and be an effective tool. His words on "story" are most helpful to explain ways the building can enhance your message and fit the community you are trying to reach/5(6). This church is not a mainline church, but an LCMS church, but either way the trend of relocation is clear. I don't know if this church declined—I do know that it has relocated. Yet its building.

A number of Fundamentalist Christians objected. So I thought I’d take a few moments to share why the Church as a building was never the point to Jesus and the early Church: Jesus teaches Kingdom, not building. The Gospel biographies are filled with evocative, vivid parables, all about the Kingdom of God. They were Jesus’ central teaching. I believe the word “building” should be removed from our planning vocabulary until it is decided if a physical structure is the right tool. In your book, Why Church Buildings Matter, you talk about well digging vs. temple building. Unpack that for me.   The great and spacious building in Lehi's dream was identified by the angel as representing "the pride and vain imaginations of the children of men" (1 Nephi ). Lehi's contemporary Jeremiah speaks of the pride of Jerusalem and her people. The Hebrew word used by Jeremiah means "to be/become high." The word imaginations may be based upon a Hebrew word . Church buildings speak—not in an audible voice, but in a way that communicates to others something about your church. You can tell a lot about what is important to a church by their facilities.

When you build a church building, you’re not just building a community centre, you’re building an altar for God’s fire! While our nation is being flooded with Mosques, standing tall on our sky lines, we must never become deceived into thinking buildings, land and physical territory is no longer important to New Testament Christians. Why Church Buildings Matter: The Story of Your Church. likes. The church campus tells a story. Stories are all around us, in virtually every aspect of our daily experiences, which means that our Followers: The book of Acts tells us the early history of the Christian Church. In A Barnabas and Saul (later called Paul) spent a year in Antioch at the beginning of Paul’s ministry. “For a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people” (verse 26).
